INTEGRATED CATECHESIS

CATECHESIS is not alone effective delivery of information or instruction of doctrine  but more important is the formation of faith-life of the person. We can still remember PIUS XII INSTITUTE  MOTTO, TO MOULD MOULDERS OF MEN. A man may have a vast knowledge of theology or knowledgeable about his faith but he has no faith at all. A man maybe very pious or devoted much in prayer but never live his faith in his daily life   encounter or  never live his faith "in his hands of doing". A man faithful in doing his duty and active in helping his fellowmen, but not in the light of faith, but for his honor like a philanthropist or politician for elected office.

GAP  OR  BROKENNESS

In this three imagery we may vividly picture out the difference.

THE HEAD signifies his KNOWLEDGE OF HIS FAITH
THE HEART signifies HIS DEVOTION TO PIETY
THE HANDS signifies HIS ACTIVE WORK OF HIS FAITH WITHOUT KNOWING
AND PRAYING OF HIS FAITH ONLY.   ACTION NOTHING MORE.

THE GAP or SPLIT comes when the Head maybe Big but the Heart maybe small and the hands do nothing. There is a split between what he knows and what he PRAYS and what he DOES.  The GAP between DOCTRINE AND MORALS AND WORSHIP.

Therefore, we need to integrate these three  through our catechetics and methodology' Through formation of the PERSON in his faith-life experience. This is a  great challenge of the catechists.we go beyond the horizon of our efforts and discover through
God's wisdom and Grace.

 CATECHIST
A catechist who told me how she explained devotion of the presence of  Christ in the Eucharist in  the church tabernacle. A  grade three pupil was accompanying her home ,the catechist, with the group of her classmate who passed by the Church. She asked the catechist ," Ma'm you told us to visit the church and greet Jesus in the Tabernacle, come let us go inside and greet Him"  the catechist  would like  to continue walking home but was so embarrassed for she herself did not intend to go inside.  What the girl knows, she does and prays.
